6 Days Chimps & Lowland Gorilla Safari

Go chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest Rwanda following the forest trails and led by the guides. Besides Chimpanzees, you will be able to see other primates on this trail including the black & white colobus monkeys, baboons and vervet monkeys. Track the lowland gorillas in Democratic Republic of Congo. This activity that takes between 1 and 4 hours is very amazing, and differs from tracking mountain gorillas. Generally, lowland gorillas are much bigger in size and live in larger families compared to mountain gorillas. Set eyes on these huge great primates will be a very rewarding moment.

Day 1 – Arrival

Today you will meet our highly skilled safari guide from 1000 Shades of Green who will welcome you and lead this 6 day Safari. You will check in your hotel and depending on your arrival time, we shall have a Kigali City Tour. Return to the hotel for Overnight at Hotel des Millies Collines. B.B .

Day 2 – Transfer to Nyungwe Forest

Today morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali by our Safari guide from 1000 Shades of Green, and then we shall transfer southwards to the renowned Nyungwe National Park. Along the way we shall visit the Butare National Museum, Murambi Genocide Memorial and the King’s Palace in Nyanza. Dinner and Overnigt at Nyungwe Forest Lodge. B.L.D.

 

Day 3 – Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk

After your breakfast, we shall transfer to the headquarters of the park where we shall be briefed by the park wardens about the guidelines of chimpanzee tracking. From here we shall begin chimp tracking following the forest trails and led by the guides. Besides Chimpanzees, you will be able to see other primates on this trail including the black & white colobus monkeys, baboons and vervet monkeys. We shall head back for lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon enjoy a canopy walk in the forest. Dinner and Overnigt at Nyungwe Forest Lodge. B.L.D.

 

Day 4 – Transfer to Bukavu in DR Congo

Today we shall have an unrushed breakfast, before transferring to Khauzi Biega National Park found in Bukavu via the Cyangugu boarder. We shall have lunch on arrival before taking a walk in the Mbayo tea plantation, the research center or even a nearby fishing village. Dine and spend the night at Orchid safari Lodge. B.L.D.

 

Day 5 – Track Lowland Gorilla in Kahuzi Biega – DR Congo

Early this morning we shall head into Kahuzi Biega National Park to track the lowland gorillas. This activity that takes between 1 and 4 hours is very amazing, and differs from tracking mountain gorillas. Generally, lowland gorillas are much bigger in size and live in larger families compared to mountain gorillas. Set eyes on these huge great primates will be a very rewarding moment. Later in the day, we shall set out for a nature walk within the park to see the beautiful Tshibati waterfalls, and also visit bukavu town plus some adjacent traditional homes. Dine and spend the night at Orchid Safari Lodge. B.L.D.

 

Day 6 – Departure

This is the final day of our safari; we shall have breakfast at our lodge, checkout, and then drive back to the capital Kigali from where you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
