This gorilla tracking adventure safari in D.R Congo takes 3 days, and begins and ends in Kigali city – Rwanda. Track through the forests of Kahuzi Beiga National Park in search of the amazing lowland gorillas, go for a nature walk to the Tshibati waterfalls in the park, a visit the research center, check out bakavu town and the adjacent local homesteads.
Day 1 – Transfer to Bukavu – DR Congo
Today morning you will be picked from your accommodation in Kigali Rwanda by our guide from 1000 Shades of Green and then drive southward to the border at Cyangungu. Along the way you will make stopovers at the Butare National Museum, the Nyanza King’s Palace, as well as visit the Genocide memorial sites, and have lunch en-route. You will drive on through the rolling beautiful hills of Rwanda and the verdant forests in Nyungwe National Parks as you head to today’s final destination – Bakuvu in DR. Congo. Dine and spend the night at Orchid Safari Lodge. B.L.D.
Day 2 – Gorilla Tracking in Kahuzi Biega
Today morning after an early breakfast, e shall set out for a thrilling adventure as we track through the forests of Kahuzi Beiga National Park in search of the amazing lowland gorillas, and this normally takes between 2 -4 hours. Unique about the lowland Gorillas is that unlike the mountain gorillas, they live in bigger families. Despite the tiring walk in search for them, once you set eyes on these huge apes it will be a very rewarding moment. Later on, we shall have a nature walk to the Tshibati waterfalls in the park, a visit the research center, check out bakavu town and the adjacent local homesteads. In the evening we shall return to Orchid Safari Lodge for dinner and the overnight. B.L.D.
Day 3 – Return to Kigali Rwanda
This is the final day of this amazing 3 day Safari, we shall have breakfast at our lodge before checking out and then begin the drive back to Rwanda’s capital Kigali where we shall arrive in the evening.
